Rhys has never been the luckiest person. Everything he does seems to backfire and cast him in a negative light. Got his girlfriend pregnant in high school. Caused his parent's divorce. Never even been able to hold down a job. He tries to put his children first in his life, but there isn't much else in his life to put first. Rhys' high school girlfriend, Jane wasn't exactly over the moon when she found out she was pregnant. The two stayed together until the birth, whereupon Jane left the twins with Rhys and moved out of town. She looks after the children every other weekend. But was the unexpected pregnancy the only reason for tensions to be so high between her and Rhys?
When he and wife Amelia found out about Jane's pregnancy, it seemed as if they were reliving their own lives. Except Rhys and Jane weren't married, or as it turned out, even happy together. Amelia had had enough of Rhys constant self destructive antics and Cyril repeatedly sticking up for him, and left town with their other children. Cyril has stayed with Rhys every since, helping to raise his grandchildren. But isn't it time for him to let go of the reigns and make Rhys take responsibility for his life?
Despite their parent's troubles, both kids are pretty happy with their lives, and neither seem to have inherited Rhys' rebellious streak. Yet.
